For Online University Faculty

Teaching online is very different from traditional classroom teaching. In an online class, the instructor’s job is more like that of a coach than a classroom performer. To the extent that the student is engaged in self-motivated learning, there is less need for extrinsic motivation from the instructor; however the most important role of the instructor during online courses is ensuring a high degree of participation and interactivity.
